Analysis
On April 13th, a few weeks after
"Like That" released, a diss track by
Drake against
Kendrick Lamar named
"Push Ups" was leaked. It was officially released on April 19th, with slight alterations. The name of the song is referencing a popular video of
Kendrick Lamar doing pushups. He takes shots at Future by saying that he gave him his first number one song, on the song "Way 2 Sexy" on the album
Certified Lover Boy, which Future was featured on. "Your first number one, I had to put it in your hand"He tells Metro Boomin to shut up and make drums."Metro, shut your ho ass up and make some drums"Then his primary target, Kendrick Lamar, he calls him short multiple times. "How the fuck you big steppin' with a size-seven men's on?""Pipsqueak, pipe down"He would also go on to say he does whatever his boss tells him to do such as making songs with Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift despite the fact he is often called the savior of rap and Drake is considered mainstream. "You better do that motherfuckin' show inside the bityMaroon 5 need a verse, you better make it wittyThen we need a verse for the Swifties"He says that his catalogue especially his latest album,
Mr. Morale, is not that good and multiple rappers are better than him. Which was also a complaint that J. Cole had in
7 Minute Drill."Your last one bricked, you really not on shit"You ain't in no
big three, SZA got you wiped downTravis got you wiped down, Savage got you wiped downLastly he says that this beef did not start with
Like That and it's been something that's been going on for a long time. They're beef can be seen going all the way back to Kendrick Lamar's
Control verse, whether or not he intended it maliciously
Drake's response shows that he didn't like that Kendrick made that song. He also mentions the fact
J. Cole dropped out."And that fuckin' song y'all got did not start the beef with usThis shit been brewin' in a pot, now I'm heatin' upI don't care what Cole think, that Dot shit was weak as fuck"*There may be errors on this page.
