After the VMA awards ended she was asked about what she thought after getting
interrupted during her speech by
Kanye West. She said that she was a big fan of him, in a
later speech she says that the first album that she ever bought was
"The College Dropout". She also thanks Beyonce for
letting her speak after Beyonce won her own award.

Beyoncé to bring you up and what did you think of that gesture?Taylor Swift: They told me to stand by the side of the stage, and I didn't really know what was going to go down. But I thought it was just so wonderful and gracious of her to do what she's always done. She's always just been a great person before anything else—before the talented artist, the superstar—she's always been a great person. And I just... I thought that I couldn't love Beyoncé more tonight, and then tonight happened and it was just wonderful.[0:30] Interviewer: And what went through your mind
when he came up and then they cut off the—Taylor Swift: Well, I was standing on stage and I was really excited because I had just won the award. And then I was really excited because
Kanye West was on the stage. And then I... um... then I wasn't so excited anymore after that.[0:52] Interviewer: And Taylor, are there any hard feelings towards him?Taylor Swift: I don't know him, and I've never met him, so...[0:59] Interviewer: So were you a fan before?Taylor Swift: Yeah.[1:02] Interviewer: Of Kanye West? Are you still a fan? I take it now you know—Taylor Swift: I just... I don't know him, and I don't want to start anything because I just, you know, had a great night tonight.[1:14] Interviewer: Did anyone give you support backstage?Taylor Swift: Yeah, I've been getting so many text messages and everybody's been really nice. So I've had a really, really fun night. It's been interesting, definitely. It's definitely been an interesting night.[1:28] Interviewer: How hard was it to coordinate that performance with the subway and all of the—Taylor Swift: The performance was one of my favorite parts of the night, and especially the fact that it was so, so fan-oriented and the fact that the fans were everywhere.
