The 16th and final track on
To Pimp A Butterfly by
Kendrick Lamar.Mortal Man is a song about how people turn on leaders quickly. He used Moses, Huey Newton, Malcom X, MLK, JFK, Jackie Robinson, Jesse Jackson, and Michael Jackson to demonstrate his point. At the end of the song the poem that has been iterating for each track finally ends and it turns out he was telling it to Tupac. Then Tupac and Kendrick have a conversation until Tupac stops answering, ending the album.Kendrick explains in an
MTV interview that he was doing an interview with someone and the interviewer gave him an unreleased interview of him interviewing Tupac and Kendrick realized that the answers Tupac was giving are still applicable today. In a
Breakfast Club interview, Kendrick says he cleared the interview with Tupac's mother prior to putting the interview on the album, if she would've refused then he would've respected that decision.*There may be errors on this page.
