This is a vlog of Kendrick Lamar, Ali, and Sounwave on the moments before and after releasing the Kendrick Lamar EP. Ali mixes the songs and Sounwave produces them. Kendrick Lamar was really appreciative of all the support and said he will continue to focus on his craft.
In this January 2010 vlog, Kendrick Lamar discusses the Kendrick Lamar EP that released just 3 hours prior. Originally planned as a six-song EP, Kendrick expanded it to provide fans with more content. He highlights the collaborative production process involving team members "Ali" (who handled recording and mixing, particularly favoring tracks "Faith" and "Thanksgiving"), "Sounwave," and others who worked on artwork. Kendrick describes "hours and hours in the studio" and "sleepless nights" dedicated to creating the project.
Kendrick's primary contribution was writing "a whole lot of raps," though not all made the final cut. He emphasizes his focus on creativity and "perfecting the craft" while remaining as far away from the politics as possible. Despite just releasing this project to "tremendous" initial feedback, Sounwave already anticipates his next projects, which will range "from soul to rock," stating he won't get "much sleep" or "much of a break" before beginning work again. The vlog concludes with a musical snippet of "Uncle Bobby & Jason Keaton"
