00:00 Ellen DeGeneres: Please welcome the one and only Kanye West.
00:30 Ellen DeGeneres: Now, I love the shoes you have on, but I saw you had these backstage.
00:34 Kanye West: Uh-huh.
00:35 Kanye West: No, I was wearing those earlier, but I'm wearing my shoes now.
00:38 Ellen DeGeneres: You wear your shoes.
00:39 Kanye West: I'm going to wear my shoes.
00:40 Kanye West: I decided to sign these and like bring these out.
00:43 Kanye West: But if you don't want to wear them.
00:44 Ellen DeGeneres: No, no, no, no.
00:46 Ellen DeGeneres: But what do you mean? You signed them?
00:48 Kanye West: Yes.
00:49 Ellen DeGeneres: Look at that.
00:50 Ellen DeGeneres: Thanks a whole lot.
00:51 Ellen DeGeneres: Now, why do I want to walk on that now that you signed them?
00:53 Ellen DeGeneres: Now I'll never.
00:54 Kanye West: Now I'll sign mine for you and I'll give them to you.
00:56 Ellen DeGeneres: Thank you.
00:57 Kanye West: I sent some to Kim, by the way.
00:59 Ellen DeGeneres: Oh, I'll ask about them.
01:00 Kanye West: Yeah.
01:01 Ellen DeGeneres: You should.
01:02 Kanye West: I'd like to ask her about them.
01:04 Kanye West: I sent them to her.
01:05 Ellen DeGeneres: No, she wears them.
01:06 Ellen DeGeneres: I've seen them.
01:07 Ellen DeGeneres: So congratulations on the brand new baby.
01:09 Ellen DeGeneres: He's how old are you?
01:11 Kanye West: Pardon?
01:12 Ellen DeGeneres: Yes.
01:13 Ellen DeGeneres: Look at that.
01:16 Ellen DeGeneres: Look at that.
01:18 Ellen DeGeneres: Not a care in the world.
01:21 Ellen DeGeneres: He is absolutely beautiful.
01:23 Ellen DeGeneres: Now we do feel, Portia and I feel responsible for naming him.
01:27 Ellen DeGeneres: We sent you. Remember that?
01:29 Ellen DeGeneres: We were sending all these names and she sent St. Vincent, but it's pronounced Sint.
01:34 Ellen DeGeneres: And I knew you were going to see Saint and go.
01:36 Ellen DeGeneres: Do you remember that?
01:37 Ellen DeGeneres: We were sending tons of names and then you wrote back.
01:40 Ellen DeGeneres: I like Saint.
01:41 Kanye West: No.
01:42 Ellen DeGeneres: Do not act like you don't remember that.
01:47 Ellen DeGeneres: We were sending a million names.
01:50 Ellen DeGeneres: All right.
01:51 Ellen DeGeneres: Well, it happened.
01:56 Ellen DeGeneres: And how is the North is a big sister?
01:59 Ellen DeGeneres: She's good?
02:00 Kanye West: Yeah.
02:01 Kanye West: She's awesome.
02:02 Ellen DeGeneres: She's not jealous in any way?
02:03 Kanye West: Sometimes.
02:04 Ellen DeGeneres: Yeah.
02:05 Kanye West: Yeah.
02:06 Ellen DeGeneres: But mostly she, does she do anything to like take care of him or she's too young?
02:10 Kanye West: No, she does.
02:11 Ellen DeGeneres: What does she do?
02:12 Kanye West: She's really advanced for her age.
02:13 Ellen DeGeneres: What does she do?
02:14 Kanye West: She'll prop him up on the pillow.
02:17 Ellen DeGeneres: Sometimes.
02:18 Ellen DeGeneres: That does sound advanced.
02:21 Ellen DeGeneres: Now, are you done or will you have more children?
02:24 Ellen DeGeneres: Do you want more children?
02:25 Kanye West: Maybe.
02:26 Ellen DeGeneres: Does Kim want more children?
02:28 Kanye West: Perhaps.
02:29 Ellen DeGeneres: That's not, that's not what she said.
02:33 Kanye West: That's what she said?
02:35 Ellen DeGeneres: Yeah.
02:36 Ellen DeGeneres: She doesn't, she doesn't want more.
02:37 Kanye West: Okay.
02:38 Kanye West: Let's see what happens.
02:41 Ellen DeGeneres: I'll tell you what's going to happen.
02:43 Ellen DeGeneres: Nothing.
02:45 Ellen DeGeneres: So you did something.
02:46 Ellen DeGeneres: So you're so thoughtful.
02:47 Ellen DeGeneres: The way you proposed to her was outrageous.
02:50 Ellen DeGeneres: And then the way you, the Mother's Day thing, tell everybody what you did for her for Mother's Day.
02:55 Kanye West: I feel self-conscious to say it.
02:57 Ellen DeGeneres: All right.
02:58 Ellen DeGeneres: What you hired, I can just make anything up then.
03:01 Ellen DeGeneres: You hired like a string orchestra, right?
03:05 Kanye West: Yeah.
03:06 Ellen DeGeneres: To perform for her.
03:08 Ellen DeGeneres: And she looked down and they were down in the, I guess, living room area or something.
03:16 Ellen DeGeneres: And what song were they playing?
03:18 Kanye West: They played Stevie Wonder.
03:20 Kanye West: They played Let It Go.
03:22 Kanye West: So, and Annie.
03:24 Kanye West: So North could be involved with it and a bunch of stuff.
03:29 Ellen DeGeneres: God, that's amazing.
03:30 Ellen DeGeneres: I got Porsche daisies.
03:31 Ellen DeGeneres: So, I mean, that's really thoughtful.
03:36 Ellen DeGeneres: Because you're so creative, you must have all these ideas and just look forward to like events so that you can do that.
03:42 Ellen DeGeneres: Do you ever do things just, just for the hell of it and it's not an event, not a birthday or a Mother's Day?
03:47 Kanye West: I think when you're in love, every day should be Mother's Day.
03:52 Kanye West: Every day should be like a birthday.
03:53 Ellen DeGeneres: There you go.
03:54 Ellen DeGeneres: You're also very, very open-minded and Kim credits you for helping her kind of accept and understand Caitlin's journey into Bruce becoming Caitlin.
04:11 Ellen DeGeneres: And where did that come from?
04:12 Ellen DeGeneres: Where did that understanding and compassion come from that you would help them?
04:16 Kanye West: Just my mom and my dad like pushing the confidence and just, you know, knowing that people have to be themselves and we have to fight.
04:24 Kanye West: We're creating, we're creating new shapes in the world every day.
04:28 Kanye West: And, you know, we're under attack constantly by conventional opinion.
04:32 Kanye West: And, you know, somebody's got to just plant both of their feet and say, nah, that people can be who they are.
04:38 Ellen DeGeneres: Yeah.
04:39 Ellen DeGeneres: Are you not allowed to say that?
04:41 Ellen DeGeneres: No, no, you can't say that.
04:52 Ellen DeGeneres: All right, we're going to take a break so the censors can get a hold of this and we'll come back and curse some more with Kanye.
05:08 Ellen DeGeneres: We're back with Kanye West and talking about, you really do, you express yourself and sometimes you express yourself in ways that people don't really understand.
05:17 Ellen DeGeneres: And you express yourself in ways that you're unapologetic for.
05:20 Ellen DeGeneres: Like you send things out on Twitter and sometimes, like Kim has said, and I'll tell you this also, I don't know if she's told you this, along with not wanting more children.
05:31 Ellen DeGeneres: But Kim has said that.
05:33 Kanye West: I'm fine to just practice.
05:34 Ellen DeGeneres: Yeah.
05:36 Kanye West: That's all I get to do.
05:38 Ellen DeGeneres: But Kim has said that there should be a board of directors that goes through your tweets.
05:42 Ellen DeGeneres: Like when you have an idea, you should give them to Kim and a bunch of people and they go, okay, you can tweet that or no, you cannot tweet that.
05:50 Ellen DeGeneres: Do you think you should have a board of directors?
05:53 Kanye West: Absolutely not.
05:54 Ellen DeGeneres: No.
05:55 Kanye West: No.
05:56 Ellen DeGeneres: Everything you tweet, you think even, have you regretted anything that you've tweeted?
05:59 Kanye West: Nope.
06:00 Ellen DeGeneres: Nothing.
06:01 Kanye West: Never.
06:02 Ellen DeGeneres: You don't go, maybe I should have thought about that a little longer?
06:04 Kanye West: What's the point of thinking?
06:06 Ellen DeGeneres: What's the point of thinking?
06:08 Ellen DeGeneres: Well, sometimes, I understand, but sometimes there is a point to thinking.
06:14 Ellen DeGeneres: And then you tweeted out that you wanted Mark Zuckerberg to give you $53 million.
06:19 Ellen DeGeneres: In hindsight, should that have gone on Facebook?
06:22 Kanye West: Yes.
06:23 Kanye West: I should have put it on Facebook.
06:24 Kanye West: Now I understand why he didn't hit me back.
06:26 Ellen DeGeneres: Yeah.
06:27 Kanye West: I understand that Zuckerberg doesn't use Twitter.
06:29 Ellen DeGeneres: Yeah.
06:30 Kanye West: Even though I have had dinner with him and his wife and told him about how I wanted to help the world.
06:35 Kanye West: And he said he'd help me and then blah, blah, blah.
06:38 Kanye West: That's how it feels though.
06:40 Kanye West: It's like the pursuit of happiness.
06:42 Kanye West: It's like you're trying to sell this bone density machine or something.
06:45 Kanye West: You know in that movie?
06:47 Kanye West: I feel that if I had more resources, I could help more people.
06:52 Kanye West: I have ideas that can make the human race existence within our hundred years better.
07:04 Kanye West: Period.
07:05 Kanye West: The paparazzi, whatever perception you have of me.
07:10 Kanye West: It's like starting with the truth, starting with what everyone's thinking.
07:17 Kanye West: Start there.
07:19 Kanye West: Put some dope with it.
07:21 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
07:22 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
07:23 Ellen DeGeneres: I'm with you.
07:24 Kanye West: Yeah.
07:25 Kanye West: It's in the building.
07:26 Kanye West: Throw your motherfucking hands in the air right now.
07:28 Kanye West: Put your hands in the air right now.
07:29 Ellen DeGeneres: Yeah.
07:30 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
07:31 Ellen DeGeneres: All right.
07:32 Ellen DeGeneres: I'm with you on the truth part.
07:34 Ellen DeGeneres: When you say put some dope with it, just give me one example.
07:39 Ellen DeGeneres: Just get what the idea is because maybe somebody watching will give you the money.
07:43 Kanye West: Well, we're in a renaissance period.
07:44 Kanye West: We're in a place where people are like multi-discipline artists like Steve McQueen that directed 12 Years a Slave.
07:49 Kanye West: He was considered to just be a photographer, but then he won an Oscar.
07:50 Kanye West: We're not in a place where people can only have one career, one profession throughout their entire life.
07:56 Kanye West: So the exact amount of emotion and color palette and sonics and everything that I put into my music, is that I put into my music.
08:03 Kanye West: I put into the shoes and they worked.
08:22 Kanye West: You know, people never write, Kanye's pissing everybody off.
08:26 Kanye West: Kanye's making so much.
08:27 Kanye West: They try to position it through the media in some way that I'm like, whatever, whatever your friends might say.
08:38 Kanye West: You know, we saw Kanye. How was he?
08:40 Kanye West: Did he like, but I care about people.
08:43 Kanye West: I care about my dad lived in homeless shelters.
08:47 Kanye West: Less than five years ago to find out.
08:50 Kanye West: He's a psych major.
08:51 Kanye West: My mom was the first black female chair of the English department at Chicago State University.
08:56 Kanye West: I was raised to do something, to make a difference.
09:00 Kanye West: You know, I didn't take the Oscars as a joke.
09:10 Kanye West: It was funny.
09:11 Kanye West: You know what I'm saying?
09:12 Kanye West: It was like the moment, like all black, you know, actors can talk about the glass ceilings that we've dealt with out in this town.
09:20 Kanye West: And this is the moment.
09:21 Kanye West: You get your night.
09:22 Kanye West: Go ahead.
09:23 Kanye West: Chris Rock's going to do it.
09:24 Kanye West: Bam.
09:25 Kanye West: Talk about how many times you've been blocked from being able to excel.
09:32 Kanye West: I didn't take it as a joke.
09:35 Kanye West: It ain't no joke.
09:37 Kanye West: As Rakim said, it ain't no joke.
09:41 Kanye West: I used to let the mic smoke.
09:43 Kanye West: Now I slam it and make sure it's broke.
09:46 Kanye West: That's what I was raised on.
09:48 Kanye West: Rakim.
09:49 Kanye West: Fife dog.
09:50 Kanye West: Hip hop.
09:51 Kanye West: Expression.
09:52 Kanye West: Hip hop.
09:53 Kanye West: Started out in the park.
09:55 Kanye West: And everybody's trying to try.
09:57 Kanye West: I don't give a how much you sold if you playing on radio.
10:02 Kanye West: Are you connecting?
10:04 Kanye West: Picasso is dead.
10:06 Kanye West: Steve Jobs is dead.
10:08 Kanye West: Walt Disney is dead.
10:10 Kanye West: Name somebody living that you can name in the same breath as them.
10:15 Kanye West: Don't tell me about being likable.
10:19 Kanye West: We got a hundred years here.
10:21 Kanye West: We're one race.
10:23 Kanye West: The human race.
10:24 Kanye West: One civilization.
10:25 Kanye West: We're a blip in the existence of the universe.
10:29 Kanye West: And we constantly trying to pull each other down.
10:32 Kanye West: Not doing things to help each other.
10:34 Kanye West: That's my point.
10:39 Kanye West: It's like I'm shaking talking about.
10:41 Kanye West: I know it's daytime TV.
10:43 Kanye West: But I feel that I can make a difference while I'm here.
10:46 Kanye West: I feel that I can make things better through my skill set.
10:51 Kanye West: My skills.
10:52 Kanye West: I'm an artist.
10:53 Kanye West: Five years old art school.
10:54 Kanye West: PhD.
10:55 Kanye West: Art Institute of Chicago.
10:56 Kanye West: I am an artist.
10:57 Kanye West: I have a condition called synesthesia where I see sounds.
11:00 Kanye West: I see them.
11:01 Kanye West: Everything that I sonically make is a painting.
11:04 Kanye West: I see it.
11:05 Kanye West: I see the importance.
11:09 Kanye West: I see the importance and the value of everyone being able to experience a more beautiful life.
11:20 Kanye West: When I make clothes, it's funny because I would sit there with Obama and Leo's talking about the environment.
11:25 Kanye West: And then I'm talking about clothes.
11:27 Kanye West: And everyone looks at me like, that's not an important issue or something.
11:32 Kanye West: But I remember going to school like in fifth grade and wanting to have a cool outfit.
11:38 Kanye West: I called the head of Payless.
11:40 Kanye West: I'm like, I want to work with you.
11:43 Kanye West: I want to take all this information that I learned from sitting at all these fashion shows
11:48 Kanye West: and knocking at all these doors and buying all these expensive clothes.
11:51 Kanye West: And I want to take away bullying.
11:56 Kanye West: You know, I want to.
12:05 Kanye West: Michael Jackson and Russell Simmons is the reason why I was able to go so far in music.
12:11 Kanye West: There was a time when Michael Jackson couldn't get his video on MTV because he was considered to be urban.
12:20 Kanye West: The Michael Jackson.
12:22 Kanye West: So I literally have to be Michael Jackson of apparel in order to break open the doors for everyone that will come after I'm gone.
12:32 Kanye West: After I'm dead.
12:33 Kanye West: After they call me Wacko Kanye.
12:38 Kanye West: Isn't that so funny?
12:39 Kanye West: The people point fingers at the people who have influenced us the most.
12:44 Kanye West: They talk the most about the people who cared the most.
12:48 Kanye West: I'm sorry daytime television.
12:50 Kanye West: I'm sorry for the realness.
12:52 Ellen DeGeneres: Well, it's not daytime television anymore.
13:06 Ellen DeGeneres: We're going to take a break and we're going to come back and we're going to play five second rule, which should be very fun with Kanye.
13:15 Ellen DeGeneres: We're back with Kanye West.
13:16 Ellen DeGeneres: We're trying to get him to come out of his shell.
13:18 Ellen DeGeneres: And first of all, before we play the game, we didn't talk about the album Life of Pablo, which is, I assume Picasso.
13:26 Ellen DeGeneres: Is that what you're talking about?
13:27 Ellen DeGeneres: Or it could be anything.
13:28 Kanye West: Well, there's Picasso, there's Escobar and there's St. Paul.
13:35 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
13:36 Ellen DeGeneres: So we don't know.
13:37 Ellen DeGeneres: So it is a brilliant record and congratulations.
13:41 Ellen DeGeneres: And of course, you remember that I came up with the title.
13:50 Ellen DeGeneres: So remember I texted you that?
13:53 Kanye West: Yes.
13:54 Ellen DeGeneres: All right.
13:55 Ellen DeGeneres: We're going to play a game and it's called Five Second Rule.
14:08 Ellen DeGeneres: All right.
14:09 Ellen DeGeneres: So here's the thing, Kanye, we have five seconds.
14:12 Ellen DeGeneres: Remember that five seconds to have three answers within five seconds.
14:16 Ellen DeGeneres: And then you hit the thing afterwards.
14:18 Ellen DeGeneres: I'm going to do it first so you know how fast five seconds goes.
14:22 Ellen DeGeneres: All right.
14:23 Ellen DeGeneres: It goes fast.
14:24 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
14:25 Host: Ellen, tell us three things you shave or wax.
14:27 Ellen DeGeneres: Your legs, your arms, your back.
14:32 Ellen DeGeneres: All right.
14:33 Host: All right, Kanye, give us three things that are hairy.
14:35 Kanye West: Balls, balls, balls.
14:45 Ellen DeGeneres: Balls, balls, balls?
14:46 Kanye West: Yeah.
14:47 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
14:48 Ellen DeGeneres: Three balls.
14:49 Ellen DeGeneres: Three sets of balls.
14:50 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
14:51 Ellen DeGeneres: Maybe.
14:52 Ellen DeGeneres: I'm not sure if I explained the rules properly.
14:55 Ellen DeGeneres: Three different things.
14:57 Ellen DeGeneres: And balls maybe could have counted for two.
15:00 Kanye West: Three different balls.
15:01 Ellen DeGeneres: No.
15:02 Ellen DeGeneres: All right.
15:03 Ellen DeGeneres: Give him that point and he'll learn.
15:05 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
15:06 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
15:07 Host: Ellen, name three ways to surprise your spouse.
15:09 Ellen DeGeneres: You get a string orchestra.
15:10 Ellen DeGeneres: You get a string orchestra.
15:11 Ellen DeGeneres: You ran out of stadium and you...
15:14 Ellen DeGeneres: All right.
15:15 Ellen DeGeneres: We know when time is up.
15:16 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
15:17 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
15:18 Ellen DeGeneres: Give him a hard one.
15:19 Host: Name three things that get you in trouble with your spouse.
15:31 Kanye West: The internet.
15:32 Ellen DeGeneres: The internet.
15:33 Ellen DeGeneres: I didn't get that one?
15:34 Kanye West: No.
15:35 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
15:36 Ellen DeGeneres: We all had so many ideas in our heads.
15:37 Ellen DeGeneres: All right.
15:38 Ellen DeGeneres: Go ahead.
15:39 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
15:40 Host: Ellen, name three things you always forget.
15:42 Ellen DeGeneres: This kind of question.
15:43 Ellen DeGeneres: Yeah.
15:44 Ellen DeGeneres: Yeah.
15:45 Host: Name three things you do when no one is looking.
15:46 Ellen DeGeneres: Smile.
15:47 Ellen DeGeneres: Three things.
15:48 Ellen DeGeneres: Ellen, name three reasons.
15:49 Ellen DeGeneres: Ellen, name three reasons why you always forget.
15:55 Host: Name three things you do when no one is looking.
16:01 Kanye West: Smile.
16:02 Ellen DeGeneres: Three things.
16:07 Host: Ellen, name three reasons why you always forget.
16:17 Host: Name three reasons why you'd be in handcuffs.
16:19 Kanye West: Because I want to, because I don't want to, and because I'm the wrong person.
16:24 Ellen DeGeneres: Yeah.
16:25 Ellen DeGeneres: Don't ask me that.
16:26 Ellen DeGeneres: Okay.
16:27 Ellen DeGeneres: No, no.
16:28 Ellen DeGeneres: You got another question.
16:29 Ellen DeGeneres: You got another question.
16:30 Ellen DeGeneres: You got another one.
16:31 Host: Name three things in your bedside table.
16:36 Kanye West: Mac charger, phone charger, Rolex.
16:40 Kanye West: Rolex in a safe.
16:41 Ellen DeGeneres: No.
16:42 Ellen DeGeneres: No, we know where it is now.
16:43 Ellen DeGeneres: Go to Apple Music and Spotify to download Kanye CD, The Life of Pablo.
16:55 Ellen DeGeneres: We'll be back.
16:56 Ellen DeGeneres: Kanye West.
16:57 Kanye West: Thank you.
